Treasure Island: Group Tasks

Each section has six groups. The group concentrates on one topic per section.

There are six topics: Character, plot, vocabulary, theme, language use, and decisions.

At the end of the section, each group is responsible for a two-minute presentation on its topic. The six presentations will be a third of your grade for the book. The rest of the grade will be quizzes and papers.

The presentations should convey the important information from the section. They may be crossword puzzle, collage, drawing, cartoon, poster, research report, online quiz, animation, skit with script, PowerPoint, diorama, newspaper article, online resources, pantomime, game, or anything else you wish to do. You may have handouts. Computer use must be arranged before class. You must rehearse and prepare it before class.

Some presentation websites you might find useful are:

StoryTop Story Maker

WallWisher

Glogster

Flowgram

The group may all collaborate on the presentation, may do individual presentations, may take turns presenting, may divide tasks, may choose a leader to follow, or may rotate leading. Good decision-making will make it work.
