Profile

Profiles often appear in newspapers, news sites, and magazines. They are news articles, and they are often, but not always, about famous people. Writing a profile is not like doing a school report. You have to grab your reader's attention and keep it, because readers won't bother reading a profile if they're not interested.

As a journalist, you have to:

• Come up with a list of subjects.
• Do research and check your facts.
• Take good notes.
• Decide on your angle.
• Organize your article.
• Cite your sources.
• Write a good lede and title.
• Keep your reader's attention all the way through.
• Avoid bonehead errors.
• Catch your reader's eye with visuals.
• Follow your guidelines.
• Make your deadlines.
