For the unit test, you should:
1. Give the definitions of these vocabulary words:
calorie
carbohydrate
cellulose
cholesterol
digestion
enzyme
esophagus
fat
hydrochloric acid
molecule
nutrient
organ
organ system
peristalsis
protein
saturated fat
sodium
specialized
tissue
2. Be able to explain how bodies are organized, showing you understand what cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems are and how they are related.
3. Describe what happens to food in the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine.
4. Tell the main types of nutrient you should get every day and explain what each one does (for instance, carbohydrates are needed every day, and they provide energy).
5. List the food groups in the Food Pyramid and tell how many servings a day you should have of each one.
6. Explain why the "fats, oils and sweets" are not considered a Food Group.
7. Discuss good things and bad things about the way human beings can eat.
8. Read a particular Food Label and be able to tell how big a serving is, how many calories are in a serving, and whether the food is high or low in fat.
9. Give an opinion about whether a food would be a good thing to eat regularly, based on its Food Label.
10. Write a paragraph, based on what you have learned about digestion and nutrition, describing what a kid should eat every day to grow and be healthy.
