Unit Title Review

 

For the unit test, you should:

1. Give the definitions of these vocabulary words:

2. Be able to explain what matter is made of.

3. Give three methods of measuring volume.

4. Explain how to measure mass.

5. Be able to give the metric units for measuring length, volume, and mass.

6. Show you understand the difference between the metric prefixes kilo-, centi-, and milli-.

7. Give examples of properties of matter, and explain why chemists need to know them.

8. Explain how you can find whether something is more dense or less dense than water.

9. Tell how molecules move in solids, liquids, and gases, and how heat is involved with that movement.

10. Show you understand how matter changes from one phase to another.

11. Explain in a paragraph what properties you might use to identify a piece of matter if you were a chemist, explaining your reasons.

In addition, you should review the "stretch" notes in your journal. One five-point question on the test is always from this information.
